Josh Sehrer's photographs were taken with
Kodak disposable cameras and all his videos were filmed with
Sony TRV517 camcorders.
Josh Sehrer first edited his footage by bringing the footage off his hi8 camcorder and onto a VHS tape. He would then put the tape into one of two VCRs
with a Playstation 1 audio cable plugged into it. He'd then play a song on the game console's CD player while playing the top VCR, dubbing the track
onto the original soundtrack/footage while recording it on a blank tape in the secondary VCR that was connected to the first VCR.
Slow motion was achieved by pressing the pause button on the first VCR continuously. "Ribbons" can be seen in Josh Sehrer's first original tapes.
Josh Sehrer's photographs were all scanned using an
Epson Perfection 1640SU.
Josh Sehrer went to Tokyo for the first time in 2001,
he then later returned once in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005
and twice in the year 2006.
Each trip was usually around two weeks, give or take a few days.
